Director Caleb Slain teamed up with Los Angeles CGI company Baked Studio to create this amazing piece on the journey of light. The story is a visualized journey of Nikon’s optical technology history of 100 years. It is not a technical presentation of how light travels through the camera but rather a more conceptualized representation to invite the viewer into a world of light no one has ever seen before. The piece was shown as a teaser for Nikon’s first full size mirrorless camera Z7. The challenge was to evoke how the camera can capture more light based on the new larger mount, without showing any parts or details of the camera. The live action portion was shot in the desert near Los Angeles.
